no way, it is the best bang for your buck, you get great motor and suspension right off the show room floor. It just weights a few pounds more. I bought one about 8 months ago, I upgraded from a 440ex with all the trimmings, and the stock ltr is way better.

Once you are all said and done adding parts on all the other quads, they all weigh within 10 or 15 pounds of each other. It's not as much of a pig as people make it out to be.

I think the LTR is heavier because it comes with a steel swing arm and is wider than the other 450s.

Another reason I think so many people think its heavy is because every time theirs a 450 shoot out in the mags all the 450s are shown with their dry weight and the LTR450 is always shown with its wet weight.

Its heavier because of the steel swing arm, wider a arms, EFI (is heavier than a carb), and the ltr's frame is a lot thinker so its WAYY stronger than most so no need for a gusset kit. But most racers end up buying a swing arm, wider a arms, wish they had EFI lol, and gusset there frame so in the end it will be even closer.

the ltr is a heavier bike even with dry weight by 9 pounds. only prob in ltr motors is the 3rd gear and the 06&07's have a false nutreul

The LTR's in race trim are still heavier. 10-15 lbs means nothing to your average racer. It isn't about weight or power in the 450 class, it comes down to comfort, they are all good enough to be competitive.

The one thing I dont see that If I was a pro would go out and get titanium swingarm,a-arm,s,steering stem, sub frame and all bolts on quad, does,t seem like anybodys going that route if I had sponcers and big money contracts thats what my quad would have would cost thousands but so what!well worth it!IMO. swingarm-2000,steeringstem 1000,a-arms 2000 ,sub frame 3000 .just ballpark price, Lonestar has Titanium parts .8000-10000 extra WHAT,s that to a sponcered rider with a big contract!would make huge weight difference!

Alot of the factories will only run certain things ti like the stem, bolts, and other minor things. They dont use ti for the most part because its brittle and is more prone to cracking then their steel or aluminum counterparts.

Exactly what I was gonna say. When it breaks it almost shatters in a way.

I just bought an 06 ltr 450 just curious what the problem is with the 3rd gear exactly and also the problem with false neutral? Don't know a ton about the quad yet... it was the right price so i had to snatch it up while i could. The quad was raced for a season but i know the fellow who ran it so it should be in good mechanical condition... thanks ryan

the 06's dont have a 3rd gear problem just the 08's. as far as the false nutreal you have to get all the 08 siftforks and all that with the 06 gears it takes that away

One guy said the frame is what could make it heavier than the rest is the frame,s that good ?I have,t heard of any breakin so they must be pretty good if you dont need gusset,s all other need them except kawi /DS from what Ive heard is that true?

yea the ltr frame is real good. except around the footpegs. walsh makes a gusset kit for that. other than that tho the ltr frame is really good

The LTR handles great thats why it wins. i ran a trx 450 last year the suzuki DOES NOT have the power. You have to do a lot of mods to get any *** out of it
