wire grinder wheel for cleaning

Do you guys think it's alright to use a wire brush on my bench grinder to clean the caked on dirt off my header pipes? After I get the initial gunk off, I plan on use a nice buffing wheel with some Mothers, but in the meantime, is a wire brush alright?

Yes its fine but when i did mine i didnt use it. All I did was spray it down with acid then rub with steel wool to get all the gunk off. Then just polish till she shines.

If its really thick gunk, try some Gunk Engine Degreaser and a wire wheel. I did that to my brake hub and it looked brand new. Then polish as you said. It should turn out real nice.

i used a little wire brush on a drill on my header and it worked great.
