I think I seen on a dyno a engine loose 2hp on top end from them.

IMO its a waste of money. I say this because we generally use a larger carb if anything or even go as far as to remove the choke butterfly and assembly to free up more space inside and it provides gains just from removing that. For $90 and the difference if any it would make spend your money elsewhere.

Just another gimmick to make money!
I understand looking for that little extra edge of power but you have to use common sense when it comes to these useless gadgets.
10..15% hp gain takes more then some stupid insert in your exhaust.
If it was that simple it would put the real engine builders out of business.
Of course there are those that swear they feel the difference?
I read a story once about a voluntary test among patients in a hospital. They had x amount of patients taking a pill for something to see if it would help.Well the pill turned out to be a useless capsule with confectionary powdered sugar inside.Turns out 70% percent of the people in the study said they felt better after taking the pill? There reason for the test was to show that it is a physcological issue here.People actually think they feel better. But in reality nothing changed.
Same for these gadgets!"Oh boy it felt so much faster after inserting this gadget in my exhaust!"
Its the old money making scheme praying on peoples imagination.Don't be so gullable!

It is a joke and you are right! Its just a shame that these gimmicks catch the eye of many that just believe everything they hear and read and swear by it.

they do exactly what they are designed to do but, are very over priced. i had the oppertunaty to experiment with one on a (then) new 450r in 06. all was stock on the bike and each time i bolted on a mod i/e exhaust, cam ect ect, i'd try with and with out the scary fast. and there was a noticable difference in low end torque.

So what your saying is you had a 10 .. 15% gain in hp?

i seriously doubt it but there was deffinately a substantial increase in low end torque. overall i'd say that the scary fast broadened the power curve better.

So much for the bogus 10..15% hp gain as I said from the beginning!

The idea behind them is that they optimize your fuel atomization before it get into the combustion chamber of the engine, and they do work, but only with other mods also and not anywhere near 10-15% most likely. also they do not go in your exhaust, they go in your intake tube before the motor.

actually they go b-4 the carb, in the bell's profile and are designed to reduce the "tract" to 1/2 the area thereby creating vilosity speeds in the lower throttle(slide) position.
