Here is a little up date on my little 86' R project.

Started back in Dec of 08.

Back then it had 400EX front shocks, 400EX rear axle, bearing carrier and rear brakes. Stock 250R a-arms. One broken 400EX spendle and one good one. An 89' swing arm. And some AC nerfs.

And now this is what I have so far.

I now have a pretty good motor, +2 +1 LSR race arms, RPM rear axle, still have the 400EX bearing carrier, the same AC nerf bars, SS front brake lines, still have the 89' swing arm, some tripple rate works front shocks, tank and plastics are from a good friend of mine, 250R rad, some plastic air scoops and 400EX rims (not pictured), stock 250R steering stem, 400EX front hubs, rotors and spendles (also not pictured) , stock air box with lid. 400EX rear master cyclinder that I made a little bracket for to make work and I think that is about it for the moment.

Due to a major lack of project funds, most of my getting parts has to come to a stop for now.

I am going to start working on the frame now. I want to gusset it where I feel needed. Make a rear motor mount. And beef up the swing arm bolt area. I think I am going to paint the frame black. The motor is going to be silver. I was not going to do red but the deal was to hard to pass up so now she is red. I think I am going to do a black seat cover ans some simple Honda decals down the side. The rest of it is still up in the air.

I am wanting to build her up as a nice mild trail and play ride. Just something fun to ride and have fun building at the same time. Maybe even get a few looks as I blast away from some of the modern machines in the trails.:D

So what do you guys think? Any tips, ideas or thoughts?

Frame and swinger look really clean. Fresh paint? Good luck with the build.

Paint your frame any color but silver, looks too much like the modern frames, black will be nice. build looks good so far, good luck

The swing arm was polishied but it looked like hell. I tried to bring it back some but gave up so I pained and cleared the swing arm.

The frame has an old paint job on it. The paint on it looks ok in the pictures but it needs to be re done. It will be all torn up by the time I get done doing all my frame mods anyway.

It just bolted right up. No problem at all. A friend of mine use to run this frame and swing arm. Said it was a lot better than running the 86 swing arm.

Now that I am running the 89 swing arm, one of my frame mods is to weld in a rear motor mount. This frame use to run a 370ESR motor so I know it will hold my stock motor with out the mount, but while I am going to be welding on it, I am going to go ahead and weld in a rear mount too.
