I'm not even sure if this is the correct forum for a TRX450ER, hope it is. I am trying to help my son rejet his ATV since he has changed his intake to a ESR airbox eliminator; and exhaust to SR4 by Motorworks. Currently the carb is absolutely stock.

He normally rides trail and sand, uses all terrain tires or paddles.

We need help and suggestions for main jet, pilot and needle shims for the above setup. I work on my motorcycle with a carb, hopefully the ATV is about the same in rejetting difficulty. Thank you.

Needle 3rd clip

Thank you for your comments, it gives us some starting point and from there we can fine tune it for the specific elevation, Oklahoma, and riding style/terrain.

Considering you said it was a TRX 450 ER i'm assuming that it's a 2006 model or newer.

The 05 carb is different and if you use a 180 main you most likely over do it.

On my 06 I'm running a 165 main jet , 55 leak jet, and the CRF/HRC needle on the third clip...I'd recommend starting somewhere around there

do your self a favor put the stock airbox back on stock filter or a sparks filter. this is only my opinion dont want to stir the s*%^ here.

doesn't really matter how you run it. Whats important is regular maintance, thats key.

k265r

Why do you say to put the OEM parts back on? Is it because the aftermarket stuff is junk? or is it because there is too much work in making it run right? or you are a purist and people shouldn't mess with what Honda built?

Would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Easy

Does it really matter?

I think what k265r is trying to say is that for trail riding and sand its probably easier on the motor and filter to have the stock airbox to keep sand, mud and water away from the filter/intake.

just remember I said "I THINK"

Listen to this guy.
Ignore everyone that is posting 05 jetting. The 04-05 carbs are totally different then the 06+ and require totally different jetting.
Unless they have an 06+ their recommendation means nothing.

For 06 and up: 165 main 55 pilot 50 leak or adj. leak jet third clip on hrc needle Since you eliminated the air box you may have to run a tad richer.
