Apparently Duncan Racing was right when they said that a 400ex makes peak power at stock rev or rpm limit. check out the dyno run at 11,200 rpm at (gt thunder testbench).

well I have seen this posted before but I wanted to point something out I know when we change the boxes on our harleys it makes the rpm limit higher but it also changes the advance curve of the ignition to a more agressive curve I just assumed it was the same for the atv ign boxes as well NO? so the benifit lies in 1. more agressive advance curve 2. higher rpms available are you guys following me here or am I wrong? now I do agree that 1000 rpms more you are already past the point of any more ususable power. but the advance curve in midrange would help. just my 2 cents

yes i do understand what your talking about. by raising the rev limit w/ an aftermarket cdi box all u r doing is raising the limit. thats it. it does not advance your ignition timing or anything like that. a lot of people have said that unless u have major motor mods raising the rev limiter will give u no added benefits. the 400ex doesnt make any more pwr above the 9200 limit on a stock or mildly modded motor.

has anybody heard about the new Big Gun rev limiter? it raises the limit by 1000 just like the rest, but somehow "supposedly" gives an extra 2 hp.

The Ad for the WB box says that it changes the advance curve to a more aggressive one.

no flame intended-just facts.

ok now I am with you ! , although the advance curve is advertised as more agressive there are no performance gains according to the dyno .
