i just bought an 04 kfx 400.... i was looking all over for a dip stick and couldnt find one, i thought you needed an allen wrench to check it but that wasnt it either and i also couldnt find the oil filter so i was wondering if it was a wet sump...i know i probably sound dumb but i need some input haha :confused:

No, it is a dry sump motor. The oil tank is in front of the radiator. On the left side of the tank is the filler hole and the dip stick is attached to the cap. You need to start it and let it run for 3-5mins then check it the oil. If you change the oil you will need to drain the tank and the motor. It takes 2qts without changing the oil filter and 2.2qts with oil filter change. For the best results change the filter everytime you do the oil. I personally change the oil every 20 hours. You really should get a manual.

break into the piggy bank you only need about 6 or 7 bucks for 2 quarts of oil and a filter.

im planning on putting all K&N filters in.... the oil filter is like 6 bucks but the air filter is like 50

Ive got an UNI I'll sell you for $10 shipped. It'll help it breath and keep the fines from making it into your cylinder. Dont get the K&N oil filter its not worth the hassle of cleaning it plus over time it will get choked up and you'll have to get another.

alright i sent it, a lot of **** happened that prevented me from coming on and ordering it haha, and my truck needs an alternator :/
