They are in perfect plummage this time of year. All I can think of with the drake mallard coming in with his mouth open, is the AFLAC commercials. haha! Only 7 more months till they come in like that and I fill their head's with a load of #4 Hevi-Steel!

LOL..its gonna be a long 7 months, but hopefully by then I will have so many places picked out that I will go broke buying shells:devil:

I even saw about a dozen Scaup right here in my neighbors pond today Nick.....the birds are really moving north!

Sweet, check the bill on those Scaup though, ringnecks look almost identical but have a distinct white outline on the bill and are all black on the middle of the back. Scaup or bluebills have an all light blue bill and salt and pepper back. Ringnecks will get into those smaller ponds while scaup tend to stick to the big rivers. Only reason I say is we thought we had a bunch of bluebills on one of our ponds but they turned out to be ringnecks. But those very well could be scaup with the potomac that close. Definitely is a great time of year for catching them going north in full plummage!

Read all you can and practice practice practice!!!

I saw a killer duck fight yesterday. Infact, with mating season underway there was a ton of action as the males fought and chased the females.
