Fastest Stock Quad

Out of the box (without mods), what is the fastest quad on the market. I mean, line them up side by side and race from point A to point B in a straight line..... doesn't matter whether it's sport or utility. Just want others opinions (or facts ). Most of my advice comes from Can Am websites and is a little bias

Yeah well this is a Honda website and is also a little biased.

This started as a 400ex site and slowly spread, so every other person owns a honda lol. Theres no where to get an unbiased opinion.

This is how I feel, it's a close one between 3 quads. The KTM 525XC, Raptor 700R, and the TRX700XX.

They are all so close it's hard to really tell.

I would say stock for stock 100%, the KTM would have a slight edge on them. But when the 700R and 700XX are opened up with a few bolt ons they far surpass the KTM (displacement)

So stock, my vote is for the 525XC or 505SX

Now from what I have heard 700xx was at 85mph but I have also heard 75mph. Back in the day I think the DS650 had the highest for 4 strokes and the LT500 quadzilla all around still might be te fastest I thought it was around 81mph and then probally the Banshee which is mid - high 70's.

Back in the day, as much as I love banshee's, the lt500 quadzilla was the beast to beat. What a monster they are. I think they had about 52hp STOCK.
Even mod for mod in the shootouts they would take the banshee by about 3 lengths:eek2:

Back to modern times, I heard the new YFZ-R is pretty fast. But I think the big bores still have the edge from the factory. Who cares about top speed. lol.

For 85 I would have to say that it prolly wasn't stock - I know Wayne Matlock has gone that fast, but like I said, he aint stock.

I did 66 in river sand in my XX, so I can see around 70 on something harder and smoother than a sand bar.

imo u need controll way before you need to have a fast motor.depending on what you are going to do you will need suspension before you need a fast motor suspension=more stable which there fore = faster in the long run, then you get a built motor and your even faster,:macho

Another reason the KTM is one of the fastest:D Those ohlins/WP shocks are awesome.

Well stock for stock the lt500 takes the win. Banshees aren’t the fastest stock, they do in the mid-upper 60's. The lt500 is the fastest stock quad out there. But the modern 450s and 700s are close and have plenty of power. The xx may be the fastest on the market today, but a ktm 505 or a ltr450 are close and have much better handling.

From what ive seen they're 52 at the crank. I have no idea what the rwhp is.


And hyper, the thundercat is fast but only about the same as the renegade because of how much heavier it is.

Glad to get the different opinions. The reason I was asking is b/c everywhere I go, people always want to "drag" race. I race XC and not into dragging, but so far no quad has been able to keep up with mine. I don't believe the Renegade is the fastest out there, but after researching and watching other vids, it looks like the T-Cat 1000 is the only one that can beat it.... that includes all sport quads. That's hard for me to be, especially being a 700lbs machine....Tell me if I'm wrong here.... -

How about ATK, the company that bought out Cannondale? From the factory the ATK quad makes 48 hp.

I've had everything other than a new YFZ and a Can Am at my place... And in a 100 yd drag, nothing touches the KTM 505... This includes Raptor 700 and a KTM 525.... The 505 is a BEAST!!!!

I recently rode a Can-Am Renegade 800.
In a drag race it would be hard to beat!
The quad flat out hauls the mail!
As far as the LT500R goes..........my old 310R was whoppin up on those back in the early 90"s.
They're nothing to write home about!

out of the hole for sport quads it would be close between the 525xc and the raptor 700. dont forget about the arctic cat 1000 for utilties. it will outrun both of the sport machines i mentiuoned

I dont know how accurate that is... I have long farm roads to run my YFZ wide open in 5th and if you ask me, I don't think it does any faster then 70 flat, or maybe even slower than that. And I can't see it being faster than any of the other 450's.

I think these 450's need a 6th gear ;)

Sportsman 850XP 79 mph


after that i would go

525's. meaning both KTM and Outlaw

Then 700XX

then Raptor 700R

then the 450's.
