Here's the start of my new MX quad for this season. It will be progessing rather quickly over the next few weeks. Season opener is right around the corner.

This started out as a stock 89 frame that has been heavily modified. Can you guess what is being done to it?

No four stroke in the immediate future. We have a fairly stock engine built for it. That may end up happening down the road though. I want to see how competitive it is with the 2 stroke engine for this season. Seems like much more fun to beat up on the new bikes with a classic that was built before most of my competition were born! :D

I was just wondering if anyone would notice the subtle changes we made to the chassis. I'm 6'4" and 240lb. My main ride last year was an 06 450R. It was a very comfortable machine for me, so we modified this chassis to those ergonomics.

We raised the entire subframe, tank, and body 1", to get the seat height the same as the 450R. We also moved the steering stem top mount forward 1 1/2" to get the footpeg to steering stem location the same. Now all the ergonomics are the same as the 450R, so I could switch from one to the other and not feel cramped and uncomfortable on the 250.

The next round of modifications will be to ditch the stock rear suspension and add a YFZ450 shock and linkage. After tons of research, we found this to be an even better swap than the CR500 shock/ linkage set-up.

I was thinkin to myself...."Man that thing looks tall!"

Who woulda guessed!
Nice job........glad to see your keepin the 2 stroke in the chassis.
Even if its only for a little while.
I love droppin my bike out the back of the pickup and have everyone and their brother come walkin over just to see what the hell arrived. Its a damn proud feeling!

Yeah, it looks a little taller than it actually is in the picture. Once we get the engine back in it and set up the suspension it should hardly be noticable.

I'm starting to get excited for the season to start. Only a few more weeks to go. My local track just added a 400cc four stroke class which is going to allow all the 2 strokes. Which is great for me, since i'm a little unsure of being able to run with the 450's.

Hope to have the engine together next week. Adding a 310 Pro-X top end with the +4 crank. Should have no problems hanging with the 400's.

Yes. I live 10 minutes from there. The track is looking killer for quads this year!
