Hi,

I am planning on welding a bare gusset kit into my stock 89 frame, but when stripping it down I found a broken motor mount, which looks like its already been fixed and broken again (weld booger!) I have both pieces, but I would much rather grind the mount bracket off and weld a new one on if anyone knows where I can get one??

Thanks,
Jason

You have 2 options-make a new one or add a washer to the outside and reweld. Simple fix either way.

Should be able to make one by tracing the other one onto a piece of thin card board. Then cut it out of plate.

I like to use cardboard from empty beer cases!

My frame has had those same mounts re-made. They are made from some flat bar that was heated and bent to the right shape and welded up. My front mounts were re-made as well. Both are heavy duty as hell. I don't think they could be broken if you tried.

i made those motor mounts out of 3/16 1 x 2 angle with the 1'' leg sitting on top of the frame rails. shaped it a bit to look similar to stock, located it on the frame rail and cut off the part that hang over, then welded all the way around. quick easy and much stronger than stock. your not likely to find one to weld on but you can make a stronger one for less than you would pay for shipping. you have a welder, if you have an angle grinder and a drill you can do it yourself.

heres a pic of what mine looks like. note that i also have replaced the frame rails where this mount sits so the way it lays out on your stock frame rail might look a little diffrent.

Thanks everyone for all of your help and suggestions. I welded the stock piece back on, then reinforced it with a steel washer. Also had washer welded onto the other side to avoid the same. Thanks!!!
