so i'm tired of ruining all my jeans riding and am starting to look for a set of pants. what makes one better than the next? also, i'm like 5'7" but wear anywhere from a kids 18 regular pants to 30x30. my street riding pants had velcro around the waist to fit different sizes. are these the same way or when they say 28, are they a 28? thanks for the help in advance.

also, just thought about this. do most people have the pants that go in the boot? would it be bad if i got a pair that go over my boots?

I will never ride the tight in boot pants again. It is so much more comfortable to get the more cargo pants type deal. The zip off that turn into shorts is probally the best invention ever too. Companies are getting there making more of the cargo riding pants. When i bought mine it was the only ones on the market and a brand new thing.

can you ride at tracks with them? don't you worry about them getting caught in your chain?

Dont see why not. Havent had mine catch anything in the years of riding/racing with them. They arent really that loose over your boots to catch anything.

Ive ridden tracks in over the boot pants. Never raced though. Never had a problem getting caught in the chain but have burned every pair on the exhaust. easier to wear an extra layer under the looser style also.

is there a way to not burn the over the boot ones?

I have yet to burn mine they are a pretty tough material and would never sit on the pipe long enough to burn. I wont ever burn my skin because of the boots underneath. I ride in short a lot with them because its so much cooler

sounds good. how about the sizing. i don't really have any place close to me that i would try the sizes on easily. what would you recommend?

All pairs I have owned have adjusters to tighten or loosen them up. Just order your waist size and you should be fine. If your short like me look for a pair with velcro adjusters at the ankle so you can tighten them up around your boots so they don't get under your boot.

I raced an entire season with over-the-boot cargo style riding pants by Fox..and I am even pulling them off for this Grand Prix series. I would never go back either. Fox has some really gnarly men's riding pants on their site for their 08-09 collection. I think some of them are even on sale right now since they're bringing out a new line. I find they're some of the most comfortable pants I've ever ridden in. They have a sizing chart on their site if that helps any....

...and their shipping is way fast (if you need them quick).

my brother and i have found that in thor and shift, you should always order two sizes up in the waist. btw, i love over the boot pants.

I wear a 33 waist, and have 34 riding pants, OTB Shift. Theyre nearly out of adjustment to go any smaller . I have burnt the crap out of mine, but I don't see any big deal about it.

i think they look funny over the boot, if you paid money for the boots show them and and save your pants...two birds one stone
