Is there a difference in carbs from 05 to 07-08 and will and 07 carb fit on an 05?

Yes the 04-05 carbs are different from the 06+ carbs.
The earlier years used a round slide carb with a butterfly valve.
The 06+ use a flat slide FCR, much better throttle response and crisp feel.

You can put an 06+ carb on your 05 if you use an adapter ring for the air box.
You can get adapters from NOSS Machines or DASA.

You will also have to take black end plug from the TPS on the old carb and put it on the FCR so it will plug into your harness.

also the 06 carb wont fit under the 05 tank without altering one of them or replacing the tank with a 06 tank
