I have a buddies 03 660, he stopped riding it last year, and put it away, he rode it until the day he parked it, no problems. We decided to take it out and try and get it going again. However we are unable to do so. Cleaned the tank, put fresh 93 in it. Took the carbs out, used some carb cleaner, made sure we were able to get through all of the jets. No clogs. Battery is fresh. We are unable to start this thing. The starter sounds strong, except every few try's we will get a grinding sound. Then it is perfectly fine again. Bike will not fire. Tested for spark, it is great. You can smell gas on the plug. Only way to get and fire up is with carb cleaner directly in the carbs. It will run off that for 2 seconds and thats it. We turned on the petcock before putting gas tank back on and verified that fuel was coming out of the tank.

Anyone have any suggestions? We haven't pull started it since completely cleaning the carbs. We tried pull starting first thing to try to manually clear any junk out. The bike would run, but only because it was being pulled, no throttle response.

It sounds like a carb problem still. I would take them back off and do a another cleaning job. It don't take much to clog a pilot and a stater jet.
