I took the quad out for the first real time at the local park. And it was nothing but mudd. Stuck within the first 5 minutes but then on I was ok. Now what is the best way to clean these things?? I hosed it heavily at the house, but that was not enough.

car wash before you go home
(wet mud comes off better than dry)

if not, then power wash it as soon as you unload it

dont let it set with mud on it, it can stain light colored plastics and the motor

Pressure wash off as much as you can then spray it down good with some simple green. I'd even take off the plastics if possible to wash. You'd be supprised at where some mud can get.

Suprised on how much damage mudd can do. My helmet was caked and getting the mudd off surfaced scratched my helmet. Hopefully I can buff some of it out.

Don't push too hard cause you can go through the clear coat very easy. It is really thin. I would rather see you try to wax it with some turtle wax to see if that would do any good. Just give it when you are going around to try to cut into it alittle bit and see if it helps. otherwise then do a little buffing. Good luck, steve

we have some smelly mud in PA. pressure wash is good for me. keep away from carb and wire connections.

a friend of mine gave me a good idea if the mud does dry and you dont feel like going to the car wash buy a cheap oscilating sprinkler and set up under it for a couple hours it will loosen the mud back up and make it easier to get off

I also use armour-all to clean my plastics
(keeps them looking new)

and the mud dont stick as bad so next time it cleans easier

(I have also heard wd40 works but have not tried it)

Mud can get in everywhere including sealed bearings and all the other important stuff. As far as wires and connections go, get some silicone spray and sprat it in the connections to keep the water out. Just take your time and go over it carefully so nothing causes future problems

dielectric grease is the best thing for connections, you just have to unplug them 1st though and put it on the inside.
