If your going to use that big of a plate be sure that you put holes in it to allow air to still get to the motor. With a nice polish or color should look pretty cool. Keep us updated.

You may want to think about the air you will blocking from hitting your air cooled engine.

ok here it is on the quad ...

and im not worried about the air flow !!! it has a squirl cage blower on it for cooling and dosent get hot ... my oil cooler has an aluminum shrowd on it and the blower blows across the oil cooler and across the motor with alot of force ... it also keeps me warm on the cold winter rides ...lol ... but thats another build forum ... that i might do another date and time ...

Very cool, I love custom fab stuff like this. Got any pics of the squirrel cage fan? It's the first i've heard of someone using one on a 400.

what is holding the rezzies from jumping out?

I would somehow fab up a rubber gromlet so you dont have the cans rubbing against the holder.

grommet.:scary:

if i was you id cut that whole bottom section out thats just blocking air. also take some rubber hose cut it down the middle and put it between the rezzie and the mount so it doesnt beat them up.

I think you may also be able to find some rubber moulding/trim at an auto parts place that would slip right onto the diamond plate to act as a chaffing guard.

ok here are some pics of the fan .. this is of it off of the machine !!!! the fan is off of a pontiac fiero .. its the fan that is mounted in the rear of the car to help keep the enguine compartment cool on the v6 models only ... it moves alot of air and the motors for it are fairly cheap to replace ...

this is the under side of the fan ... it fits under the stock hood of the 05 and newer plastic fairly easy.. i made an aluminum mount for it ... i will have more pics of it in the next few days ....

Nice, thanks for the pics. Props for being different and thinking outside the box! Looks like it would work pretty well.

it works well blowing across the oil cooler ... i will get more pics of it mounted on the ex ... i already tested it out and used a temp gun to check the pemp of the motor ... i let it sit at an idle for about 10 min. and then turned the fan on and the temp droped about 50 degrees in less than 5 min. so i think its gonna work pretty well ...
