I'm looking for a GREAT exhaust system for my 07 400ex .. I read a lot that the honda 400ex responds the best to exhaust systems and jetting kits .. just wanted to streach my options .. I'm looking to get the HMF Ironman Full System with Jets and K&N Filter .. AS of now I have no performance upgrages .. allthough i hear chrome increases Horse Power .. haha .. to bad i don't have chrome either .. I would like to post pics but all the ones i have are to large to post .. anyone know any way around this problem? .. maybe how to lower the quality of my pics .. anyway .. As of now i have a Bullhorn Pro Armor front bumper and new grips on the hadle bars and a underbody neon kit .. ITS AWESOME TOO .. i will send pics if anyone is interested in any of these accessories .. and give my honest opinion on them .. anyway .. any and all suggestions and pics are appreciated .. thanks again

Count the black things...

Jiggity84 - I think you'll like that hmf. Try going to paint, opening the picture, and click on image on the toolbar. Go to sketch skew and reduce the size a bit and save it, that should work

well the HMF ironman or the carbon fiber HMF are pretty good. but by far i have found that my e-series out performed the HMF i had for a while. the e-series doesn't sound as good but just feels better on the bike than the HMF. it also might be that it worked better with my powerbomb header.

Also notice the other pipes were full systems and the HMF was a slip on... I have plenty of graphs HMF Sport Slip on vs E-Series full and there arent many points on the graph where the E Series full had more. Not trying to bash just proving a point

That little difference in those 2 exhausts is not noticable. A pipe will not win you a race.

As far as the 400 EX goes, you can't beat Curtis Sparks, I ran a HMF slip on w/ mega bomb header, full pro-circut t4, mega bomb and white bothers (2) different ones, and by far the X-6 performs better. But hey that is my opinion.

Cheapo HMF that EVERYONE has had.

I liked it though and it never gave me any trouble.

OO .. nice job on the exhaust .. did u buy it or custom build the exhaust from the headers .. its looks awesome .. can u feel a difference in power or anything from your older exhaust to this new one?

I have the same exhaust, yet after a couple rides the coat started flaking off and now there's no more ceramic coating left. 500 bucks for the full exhaust only to have it peel and rust on me.

I think you may have gotten an older version of the Sparks system. The one I ordered direct from Sparks is completely stainless steel and does not have any type of coating. It is very high quality and I have been on quite a few rides with it and not a single problem to report.

I definetly noticed a really big increase in power throughout the rpm range.

03-15-2009, 03:00 PM
they are close but the HMF has more. I wonder what causes the WB for the line to be so choppy in the upper RPM's?

03-15-2009, 03:01 PM
Arent that far a part but when you consider 1 is a full system and the other is slip on and price...

I ordered it from C&D Racing (site sponser) in 2007, the ceramic coating was supposed to retain some heat as well as keep a good finish to the pipe. I ordered the CERAMIC COATING which cost me more than the Stainless Steel. A good ceramic coat isn't supposed to rust or flake.

It is a Ceramic Coated. Sparks x-6 Big Core with the red collar around the end cap.

Not to hyjack but has anyone done a t-4 shorty with a quiet core in it? I think it would look cool to be about 3 inches shorter or even half way between the end and the mount. Just curious since you guys sound like you have used lots of exhausts. Steve
