Do they make powder that is like stealth black, but with a dark green tint? I like color of emerald green (maybe a little darker), but I also would like the rough finish of the stealth.

I'm ready to build another purty one...:scary:

Pappy

There are a few choices, but nothing that would scream ultra badazz super wicked:p

Now the Emerald Green......I am pretty sure a gator would dry hump your quad if parked next to a swamp;)

Scro
03-12-2009, 09:46 AM
lol

I'm thinking some kind of green frame, white plastic, and stealth accents. It will be a day or two, my lazyazz still has scrap this georgia clay BS off of it.

Pappy
03-12-2009, 09:53 AM
Haha well, I prefer the emerald but I will do what ever you like!

My choice would be Emerald green frame and sub, white engine accents mixed with some EG...emerald lowers white uppers, white stem, white bars....emerald swinger:o

It may infact be to damn sexy to drag through the mud:D

Scro

Ahhh...choices, choices

Is the emerald a trans color?

Pappy
03-12-2009, 10:10 AM
Its a Dormant color..candy like in appearence but utilizes a clear coat to bring out the final color. Ill work with you on the pricing, no worries there. You saved me $800 by not running down my flash and tripod:blah:

I think I agree with you on the a-arms, plus I don't think I've seen that scheme before.

Maaannnn, you got my blood pressure up thinking about it!:p

Pappy
03-12-2009, 10:25 AM
Well, I figure if your going to do it, then do it up right:p

Can you get the lime green and purple powder, like what Shawn Hess uses?

Pappy

I get you anyting U want:D

Scro

Not for me...Glen Vair is wanting to do his frame and a couple other things as well. I figured we might could drop all of our stuff to you at one of the races at the same time.

Not sure why he wants to go with purple, he could pass as a rope sucker as it is. :D

Pappy
03-27-2009, 09:38 AM
LMAO!!!

Well just keep me posted because if I dont have to pick up or drop off parts I may roll to some rounds in my car. If I know ahead of time I can bring my truck etc

Scro

Do you have any experience with the Teixieira Tech gusset kit?

Pappy
03-31-2009, 11:16 AM
It appears to me to almost an exact copy of teh LSR kit. When I did Dave400ex's frame , thats the kit he used and unless you look super close, you'd never know the difference!

Thats a big negative on the rope sucker. i believe your just getting out of the racing scene because i can not only step on you, but i think your afraid im faster than you! haha

i liked the purple and green scheme Shawn Hess's bike uses.

Glenyzracer25

im looking to get the frame and subframe purple, with a arms, swingarm, steering stem, and a few other things green.

haha, yea it looks a lot better than it sounds.

is your quad ready to be powdercoated?

Scro

No, I haven't actually started tearing it down yet. I'm collecting new parts, and working on the wiring/battery mounts.

Glenyzracer25

Do you have anybody that can weld aluminum? One of the bolts for my airbox was ripped clean out of the mount, I mean just one side of the mount is gone.

Do you think there is any kind of aluminum washer that could be welded back onto the mount, so that the bolts could go through?

Pappy
04-11-2009, 06:56 PM
I use a local feller, He does pretty good work....much better then me with aluminum:p If you can find the washer or spacer, I can get it welded on

Can you bring your truck to Tennessee next weekend? I think we will be ready.

Pappy
04-26-2009, 10:02 PM
Shouldnt be a problem...

Glenyzracer25
04-27-2009, 05:30 PM
do you know what color that green would be called?

Glenyzracer25
04-27-2009, 05:31 PM
and can you do a frame in that purple color?

Pappy
04-27-2009, 05:34 PM
Prettys ure its Lime Green from the looks of it

And yes, I can do the purple

Glenyzracer25
04-27-2009, 05:36 PM
can you give me a price on the following. I would like them to be as close to the color as the pics i posted above.

Frame-Purple
Subframe-Purple
Brake calipers-Purple or Green?
A arms-Green
Swingarm-Green
Hubs-Green
Steering Stem-Green
Motor Mounts-Green
Valve cover-Green

There are probably a few more pieces, but that off the top of my head.

Also what would charge to install a gusset kit?

Pappy
04-27-2009, 05:40 PM
Frame-Purple
Subframe-Purple($175 includes frame and sub)

A arms-Green $60
Swingarm-Green $65
Hubs-Green $20 each
Steering Stem-Green $30
Motor Mounts-Green $20
Valve cover-Green $20

That includes primer and or clear coat, which ever is needed. Gusset kit install is $75

I might be able to knock a little off here and there depending on if the parts are stock paint or are pc'd now etc

Glenyzracer25
04-27-2009, 06:14 PM
do you have a preferred gusset kit? i have heard several gusset kits interfere with stabilizers. i run an elka so i need to make sure i have clearance for that.

Pappy
04-27-2009, 06:44 PM
We have been using LSR for YFZ's and Hondas. If you run a stabilizer, we just leave out the 2 gussets that cause problems.

Glenyzracer25
04-28-2009, 02:07 PM
Have you heard of or ever used a BARE PERFORMANCE gusset kit? They seem to be a good price, but dont know how much difference is between them and LSR?
The kit includes 14 pieces.

Pappy
04-28-2009, 02:18 PM
Bare is fine, I used to use them alot but switched to LSR due to their kits covering more areas in need of gusseting on the 450R's

I will check, I might have one in stock

Glenyzracer25
04-28-2009, 02:25 PM
ok, I just happen to run across the bare kit, if you recommend the LSR I dont mind to go that route. I'd rather do it right the first time than save a few dollars.

Pappy
04-28-2009, 06:41 PM
Glen, I thought I had a Bare kit here but I was wrong.

I have no problems using Bare kits so if you want to order one, they will direct ship it here if you'd like.

Scro
04-29-2009, 06:55 AM
I would go with the LSR or Teixeira over the Bare, for the simple fact that they have the gusset for the subframe mount. That way you won't have to worry about the bolt coming loose anymore.

Just for future reference:

Frame #JH2TE32037K108874

Frame/sub - green
uppers - white
lowers - green
stem - white
swinger - white
valve cover - white
clutch cover - white
battery box, and other brackets under hood - black
spindles - moly
exhaust bracket - black
axle nut - moly
rear brake caliper mount - moly (had fitment issues last time)
handguard mounts - black
rear master cylinder - moly
motor mounts - green
calipers - moly
caliper mounts - moly
brake pedal - black
shifter - black
motor mount bolts/pivot bolt - moly
hubs - green
master cylinder cover - black
tie rods - moly
handlebar clamps - green
brake hub - moly

Let me know, if you see something that won't, mainly with the moly. Also, can you PM me a number I can call you at the track? Just in case I don't see you around.

I will be in my Dodge towing my big Gooseneck (If I can fix this water line haha) In any event, I will have the truck.

Scro
05-03-2009, 09:48 AM
I forgot to tell you about the battery box. It's gonna be mounted on the front shock frame rail. You'll see how it goes. Just leave out any of the gussets that might interfere with it. I'm also running a Precision.

Pappy
05-05-2009, 03:03 PM
No problem, I will test fit everything and reply back if I have any questions. I am going to gusset the chassis tomorrow and will start on teh small parts as soon as I can get my big compressor replaced or repaired:ermm: I am going to try and have it done before somerset....is there someone there that would bring it home to ya?

Glenyzracer25
05-05-2009, 04:24 PM
if you are able to finish it by then, i can pick it up for him. i should be at every GNCC. I also plan to have mine to you so i can try to have it done before summer break.

Glenyzracer25
05-10-2009, 08:45 PM
How much can you get an lsr gusset kit for?

Pappy
05-10-2009, 09:15 PM
I pay the same as everyone else. there isnt much of a mark up on them even though I am a dealer. If they havent changed teh price, they are $135 + shipping but you'd have to check. They will let you pay for it and have it shipped here

I just installed the one Dustin sent up. I believe he can tell you teh brand and where to order it and I also think it may be a tad cheaper.

Scro
05-11-2009, 06:43 AM
This is the one I used. (http://www.teixeiratech.com/proddetail.asp?prod=trx450rgussetkit) It's $5 cheaper, and the only difference is the logo in the subframe gusset. I guess it depends on who's cheaper on shipping.

Your frame isnt here its at stripping :p I should be picking yours and many others up tomorrow. I believe everything else of yours is now stripped(I did that a few days ago)

Also, I fixed and welded the cracked left side stock skid mount. Does your skid plate use this (aftermarket?) If so I will add the 2 gussets for it, if not I wont bother with it.

I also repaired the cross tube when I added those gussets.

I am still looking at having this stuff done by this weekend but I wont rush through it
:D

Scro
05-11-2009, 01:30 PM
I'm using a pro-armor body skid. I was thinking that the two gussets that cover the "triangles" in the frame had holes in them for the rear of the skidplate to bolt to. I'll check and make sure this is how the skid mounts when I get home tonight. I don't think I will need the stock skidplate mounts.

Trust me, I'm in no rush either. I've still got to order parts to rebuild my motor. So no big deal if it's not ready.

Pappy
05-11-2009, 01:35 PM
Yep they do....but a tip.

When you get the frame back, turn it upaside down and make sure the holes line up. This is a good time to drill new ones if needed and alot easier when its upside down with no engine etc haha

pappy,
can you pm your address so i can ship you a gusset kit.
i called lsr this morning, they are out of stock until next week, i found a local shop that had a kit so i will just ship you this one.

also i left the ball joints in the bottom a arms, hoping you would be able to press them out. i did not want to risk tearing the boot on them by beating them out with a hammer.
