Just installed a 13.5:1 piston and an 8/06 cam in a 525 engine. This really woke up the motor it pulls really hard from bottom to top. Gained 5 hp peak on our dyno.

Colby,

what octane fuel are you running in that motor? still stock displacement?

This is a KTM 525. The customer is using 100 octane. This is std bore

Sounds like something I would like for mine. Cost?

We used a new CP piston kit $250 for the kit with gaskets. I like the gaskets that come in the kit, the head is a mls steel gasket instead of a composite gasket like the OEM. The cam shaft is around $140

hi colby.. I have the 500 motor and was wondering if i would see a dif in power just from changing the piston? or should i change the piston and the cams to have the best result?

Colby, did you do anything with the Crank bearings on this motor? I have heard the rollers do not hold up to high compression and will fail and you have to switch to ball bearings.
I was thinking of the 12:1 so I could still run premium.

As for the 500 I would use a higher comp piston and cams. We did not change any crank bearings on this motor.
