does this look like a good deal? magnum cam and 426 wiseco kit (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-400EX-99-08-426cc-Big-Bore-Kit-w-cam_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116Q QitemZ300296072625QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAcce ssories)

want to get some more power...has anyone used a magnum cam? would 11.1 compression be enough for a stage 2 cam? what else would i need to get this thing installed? bored, honed? hd studs? hd cam chain? basically looking to up the motor performance what are some recommendations for someone whos looking for a farely powerful reliable (esp in the desert heat) motor build that wont break the bank...
thanks for the help!

the link is broke but if its just the piston then you might have reliability issues in tje long run from sleeve beeing so thin you can buy one for 90$ most places and that will be bored, but a 426 eont add to much heat, the 440 i had wasnt bad at all, you dont need a 450r carb chain and all that whodad like the other guy said, they will help with power and reliability but you dont need at all so dont be fooled, the cam will be a great gain, jet it for best results, you can tap into the black wire in the regulator if you wish to add a fan to the cooler that works on the key, but your already looking at 200$ at a machine shop and the kit im guessing is around 250-300$. i highley reccomend a new sleeve but if you dont, boring is about 90$ give or take a few bucks.

You dont "need" the 450r carb or HD studs but it is recommeded to get the full impact and just safety with the studs. A CRF chain is only $30 and depending how many hours are on you machine may need it anyway. You will want a full exhaust, i believe you have to take the sparks timing key out with a high compression piston. Should prolly go with an oversize cooler or fan as well with the HD valve stuff. As long as you keep good maintance it is still a Honda so it will be reliable.

sparks recomends you take out the key with 440s, a 426 11:1 is generally the highest people go, so your fine, but, there is someone on here who runs a 440 11:1 with the sparks key and said it works just fine.

the 426 is a real reliable bike if it is built right. i am not a big fan of the wiseco pistons, i would look into a JE piston. you will spend a little more but i feel they are the best around. i have not had any heat problems with the 2 426's i have had. one was 12 to 1 and the other 13 to 1 compression. if you are going to build a 426 i would definitely get a CRF450r cam chain and a new cam chain tensioner. with 11 to 1 comp. heads studs are a toss up, but if you go to a higher compression the the head studs are a must. i have not used a magnum cam, don't know much about them. i had a Hot Cam stage 2 in both of mine, ran awesome. i have a Mega-Cycle cam in my 500ex but again kind of pricey but unbelievable power. you didn't say if you had upgraded the exhaust yet, but you will need at least a slip-on, but a full system would be better. also look into a 450r carb of a 04-05 trx450r, makes a huge difference on power.
