Oppinions on parting out vs selling outright?

I've been trying to sell my 400ex for a good while now with no real luck. I was only asking 2k for it, which i thought was fair? But ive been considering parting out. I dont have alot of suspension or body mods so idk if id make any money, i'm also kinda worried about ending up with half a quad that i cant do anything with. just wanting to get some oppinions from those who have parted out, and how it went. Heres some pix, and a might-bring-money mod list:
-Big gun full sys exhasut

-04/05 450R carb
-AC nerfs
-AC bumper
-Pro Taper bars and mount
-Blue Vein oil tank

id say its worth 2300$ if you sold as is,

id say 200 for rims and tires,
100 for crf carb
100$ for exhaust
80 for nerfs
800 for motor
plastics, 80 at most
80 for the tank
300 for the frame
rear end about 200
a-arms about 100
brake system about 100
dirt for front springs
80 for rear shock
40$ for bars

of course you could get more than that if you waited along time for the right deal, i say sell it out right becuase parting it out wont be worth the time and aggrivation

I'd have to say...even though parting out is a Pita, you would probably get a little more from doing it. People on ebay will pay top $$ for the stupidest things. I might even take some of your parts if you go this way.

On the other hand, I'd pay $2000 for your quad anyday, that seems like a great deal. I'm sure you'll find a buyer soon. Especially when the weather starts to turn, somebody's going to want a quad.

yeah man its held up great. looks awesome in person, tank looks alot better in the light since its like a blue over silvervein. only spot on the motor thats showing is where the shifters rubbed. i think you can see it in the pix a lil. also i just had it done from a guy on here in his garage, names 450r_lover, hes a buddy of mine. pretty good work, for cheap.

300 for a stock frame good luck with that to. i have two stock frames with papers i cant get rid of for 100 a pop. and my yz400f hybrid motor set up full motor carb wirein everythign tomount up kick over and ride in a 400ex chassis wont sell for 850 shipped.

just wait and sell out right.

from the looks of it i guess i need to try harder selling it. Any opinions on selling through ebay, or what else? I've had it on craigslist, and all i recieved were emails about people wanting to trade... and it was all like crappy bronco for rock crawling, ragged out quadzilla for drag, and smaller quads like 300ex and warriors.
Also 250xKyle, ive got an extra frame lying around, what all would have to be done for the hybrid motor to be put in? my brother may be interested in it for a good project.

umm have you tried like local news papers or anything like that? and ya I really want a quad but my mother works in a hospital and until I get out of highschool I can't have one so the day of my 18th bday hopefully I will get one lol, it makes me really hate hospitals now though I can't have anything fun :(

To be quite honest I was in the same boat as you. And I had alot more done to my quad. I was asking 2200 and would have taken 1800. I had offers for 1800 but nobody showed. I parted it out and made $2400 so far and I still have 8-900 left to sell. Yeah it gets annoying at times but if I had to do it again I would.

Just a youngin, will be 17 tomorrow so like 367 days and counting haha. I have a friend who has a quad and some dirt bikes then at work we got a ranger xp and a foreman but we ride and stuff and I love it he showed me this site and i barely get off it lol, still learning a lot but going places and looking at quads is just like teasing me but someday I will have one, then hopefully have money to make it pretty. :D

400exrider- how long did it take you to make that much? was shipping a major hassle? any pix of your old 400?

I sold everything locally actually. no shipping involved. it took about a month and a half. I started after my winter break in January (about Jan. 25th) until now. and like I said I still have stuff to sell. But I already made the money I wanted and now its just extra. I bought my Predator with the money and the rest is aftermarket parts for it.

sorry for the late reply i tried to send you a pm so i didnt destroy your thread but your box is full. you need to get a longer collar for the right hand side of the swingarm to alighn the chain. id throw in my front motor horns i made. then you would have to notch the frame for intake and gusset it. make top motor mount and bottom motor tabs and radiator mounts.
