Hey everyone. I've got a '07 400ex with 13/39 sprockets and do all of my riding down on the oregon dunes. On our trip this weekend I decided to take off the stock plastic skidplate to help when trying to get up some of the big tree shots around the dunes. Now everytime I try and shoot one of these hills my chain feels like it skips a tooth every once in a while and then the chain slams tight again. This only happens when I'm going up a steep dune in deep sand. When I'm on a straight stretch or jumping or whatever else it never does it. The chain tension is to spec and the sprockets both look in good shape. I've been searching around for a chain tensioner but can't seem to find a decent one for the 400ex. Anyone else ever have this problem? Think my rear sprocket and/or chain is worn out? Weird thing is, I put the skid plate back on and don't have the issue.
