I can get a brand new 2006 leftover for 4800 or a brand new 2008 for 5500. What changes is there between the years that would make the $700 difference if any change at all?

I'm picking it up from Pinehurst Performance. It's one of the employee's bikes he's selling personally. It has the trinity bore kit and lots of other goodies. Only thing it needs is suspension, but I can handle that;) I usually wouldn't want a bike that's already bore'd and stroked.... but this guy know's what he's doing so I made an exception:) It's an LTR. It's really tempting to stop by St. Anthony's because I heard those dunes are crazy! But we're kinda straped for time:( Love the LTR you guys got for your daughter! I've had my 400ex for 9 years now and I love that thing to death, but figured it's time to step it up.

Planning on going up there this spring/summer. I heard it's way better than Florence and I thought Florence was pretty sweet, so I'm sure St. Anthony's will be amazing:D Also, my 400 isn't going anywhere! I have so many people that have been begging me to sell it to them, but i can't sell it for some reason! lol I'm sure I'll keep that thing forever.

Dealerships are actually selling left over 08s for 5500 and hold over 06 for 4800 on EBAY. Check it out. Bad trannies 08? What type of problems could be in store for the 06?

From 07 to 08 Suzuki made about 100 changes to the LTR. The main difference that you will notice is that, the suspension has been loosen up some, not as stiff.

With the updates and changes to the EFI you should feel more power from the 08 stock over the 06 stock bike.

For $700 difference you would be better off getting the '08 just for the resell value alone. Even thought the 06 is new its still a 3 year old bike.

The 08's have had some 3rd gear tranny issues. ATP can get you a billet gearset for those bikes or do something to the tranny to make it much stronger, i dont remember what they do off hand tho...

Guys I am possibly buying a complete 08 engine for my 2006 machine due to some major motor issues......will I need to do anything to the EFI as far as MAPS or changing the controller form the 06/08 ?

I know the 08 had different EFI mapping and sensors in the EFI system, will I need to update/fix/replace my EFI system on my 06 chassis?

I need answers to this like now....Im pressed for time with the season less than a month from our opener!!

I would say you will need to replace your '06 EFI with a '08 EFI along with any sensors. I don't know what all Suzuki changed with the '08's, but I know they made alot of changes to the EFI and motors. '06 and '07 are about the same but not the '08's.

If you are buying the '08 motor out of a wreaked bike, just get the EFI system off it. If its a new motor from Suzuki, your just going to have to buy it.
