Difference in exhaust from 04-05 to 06-up

What is the difference between the 04-05 slip on exhaust compared to the 06-08? I have a buddy who has a slip on exhaust but its coming off a 04, and I have a 07 will it work or not whats the change?

i tryed to put a slip on from a 05 on to my 08 and there was no way that thing was gunna fit. the header on the 06-up is way bigger

There is 17mm difference between the position of the exhaust mount by the grab bar.
