yfz carb on a 400ex??

what do you have to do to put a yfz/fcr carb on a 400ex???

the FCR carb makes a WORLD OF DIFFERANCE on a 400eX. that used to be the hot setup when we ran them 6-7 years ago. 39mm was the best way to go. The 41mm FCRs were used for the big bore 440s and stuff. But man they are awesome on a 400. The accelerator pump is what makes all the differance. If i remember correctly, it should bolt right up. Just might have to rejet it. If anything, just have to get a bigger intake boot, but thats it!

are you sure they are bolt up for the most part??? so then what kind of fcr carb should i get???

Ok from what i remember, im pretty sure you have to go with a 450r throttle cable, the 39mm FCR, and the only other thing is its a pain to get rubber boot to fit onto the carb. We made our own adapter. And its easy to do once u sit down and look at it. Some ppl got the carb to fit in just by working it......its tight though. But im telling you with this mod, its the closest thing your gonna get to a 450, while running a 400ex. The top end you gain is absolutely incredible. Open up your air box, and your gonna have to ask around about the jetting. Its almost like your gaining another gear with this carb......you will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!

awesome!! i already have a k&n/w outerwears with the lid removed. i also have a e-series and a powerbomb header. so yeah!! i'm definelty gonna do this one!!! is the yfz450 better than the trx450r carb?? cause everyone puts trx450r carbs on there quads now. why not the yfz carb like i'm talking about?

and would you reccomend a certain 39mm fcr carb??? cause i got on ebay and found a bunch off of all kinds of stuff and don't really know witch one to get?

when we got ours it was off a honda 450 bike(this was before the TRX450R) came out. So i would stick with the honda, but i really dont know if a yamaha one would work. Any 39mm Kehin FCR carb should work though. But again im not 100% sure about that one

mine is from a 04 YFZ 450, there are some tricks that could or should be done ,like take off the tps ,put in a lighter return spring
o-ring mod or even ziptie ,get a very small leak jet .
you may have to cut the 1st ring off the air boot (small end )
