oil coming out of oil tank

a buddy of mine has a 03 kfx400(just got it) drove it a bit then checked the oil and it ran out the tank......he said the tank is still full to the top after sitting all night....what would cause this and is it bad...thanks

That means the person before didn't know how to change the oil cause when the motor is cold the oil sits in the bottom end once its warmed up it comes into that tank so the person before (an idiot) didnt change it correctly and it has WAY TOO MUCH!! best off to drain it and get new oil. The correct way is to dump a good amount in turn it on for like 2 seconds turn it off and do that about 3 times that will allow the motor to suck some of the new oil up and you'll probably hear the sucking noise. After that start the motor for about 2 minutes then shut it off and it'll suck some more and do that twice and then check the dip stick if nothing is on it put some more in and repeat. Until the dip stick has the correct amount. Also it may take more than 2 minute to warm up so just have an educated guess and make sure theres a little too much a lil more is better that a little too less. and yes it is kind of a problem hope this helps

it holds a little over 2 qts the book says start for 3 minutes shut off and let sit for 3 minutes then check it, but do not screw the stick in just sit it on top and pull it out to check.

go 2.5 qaurts then run for at least two minutes then turn off for same time then check.manuals on ebay are cheap!
