HOT CAM stage 3 on stock motor

Would it be bad to use a stage 3 cam on a stock motor with only aslip on and k&n?
Would it perform better than the 1 and 2?

yeah deffinatly do not attempt that! stage 3 is a pretty crazy cam.

HC III is a very aggressive cam, you would need better valve spring first, and to get all the performance available from a SIII cam, a highly modified race motor. But the stock springs probably wouldn't last long with a cam like that.

IMO--A setup similar to mine is the minimum for the stg 3. Even with the stroker, it's makes the most power mid-top with a decent low end.

Stg 3 with a stock motor is a very bad idea.

i am in full agreeance with everyone else.. but what do you plan on doing that you need that aggressive of a cam??

NO NO NO.

With ANY cam you should run high compression. Stage 1 you could probably get away with, but anything more will actually make you lose horsepower down low.

The aftermarket cams have a longer opening duration, and thus decreases compression. The loss of compression is like making your motor slightly tired. So if the 400ex is 9.1:1, a stage II cam will make it roughtly 7.3:1 or so.

That is why everyone usually does high compression with the cam. The 450's are h-c stock and can get away with it.

Stage III in a stock engine will run like absolute chit.

i have a stage one in my 450r. and my brother has a stage III in his 450r. but he has a built motor. 12.1 piston ported head hotcam. few more things,no problems
