before u put new plates in should u soak them in oil first or anything?

I soak the fibers in the same brand oil that I'll be running in the transmission of the bike.

I also scuff the plates (even new ones) on the concrete floor.

Also, the steel plates have a round edge and a sharpedge on them! The sharp edge always faces you when you install them! I always remember it like this: Your sharp.........meaning the sharp edge faces you!

agreed.

also a buddy of mine replaced his clutch, when he was filling up his gearbox he decided it would be a good idea to add a little lucas oil stabilizer. BAD IDEA!! lucas is too slick for the clutch and it only lasted about 4 hours of riding even though he drained and refilled it after 1 hour when he first noticed it was slipping.
