View Full Version : Spring Rate to Rider Weight?

Im just curious to know what the relation is from rear spring rate to rider weight. i checked my stock rear spring last night and it was 350lbs I weigh 165lbs should i be getting a new spring or is it close

your making it way too simple, you also have to think about how long the swingarm is, where the shockmount is... all that needs to be taken into consideration to get the spring rate.

Bradley is correct once you know all these factors we can figure a spring rate for your weight. The linkage type also needs to be known. If your ATV is all stock then this is easier to figure

everything is stock except for i have a GT thunder linkage on order
my shock is factory i just wanted to know if my spring should be more fine tuned to my weight

I would like to know also. Current rear is a Derisi rear stock rebuild dual rate with stock linkage. I weigh 155# with gear. thanks!
