CRF Motor years

I found a crf with a blown motor, the bike is an 04 and I have an 03 motor. I was just wondering if my motor will mount properly into the frame?Thanks alot,

Yes, I believe 04 and 03 have the same mounts.

no, nearly the same. The difference is the width of the bottom motor mount. 02-03 had a narrower mount, and 04+ is wider. Infact, replacement cases have the same wide mount. You will probably need the spacer for 02-03 crf's for the motor to work. On my hybrid, it was built in late 02, I can't use a later year engine, the bottom mount is just wide enough for the 02-03 motor.

Do you know roughly how much of a space there is? I could also just fab something up. The motor I have is a beast lol, and I dont really want to use a stocker.

huh?.... ive had 3 crfs and still have 2 (02, 04, and 05) and i still have the 04 and 05 and they ARE different at the bottom and front, but the 02 and 04 came and went out of the same bike not moving a single thing......

i thought 05 was when they changed the cases.....

02-04 is the same 05-u[ are different then the 02-04's

I was wrong then. That works for me, I'm having a atc450r built(crf450r motor) and the motor I'm gonna use is a 05 motor(he has it there), but I gave him my 03 motor(big tranny issues) to make sure it would swap with the motor from my hybrid quad, if so needed. I guess he'll have to make different mounts for the different motors. I thought only the bottom mount was different. He'll get my hybrid quad to re-pc it, add flip-top subframe and modify that so it can accept the later year motors also. What different about the front motor mounts??? I know the bottom is wider.

Im pretty sure the front mounts are different as well, walsh sells em for 02-04 and 05-up so i would assume that the fronts are different.
