Hi all I'm 16 years old and have been riding for 2 years now and am ready for a new machine.I'm 6ft 1 215 and feel smushed on a 450 and I don't like the weight distribution on a raptor.I ride a friends 05 660 with no problem all the time, but I heard the DS combined with the weight and the Rotax motor is a totally different experience from the 660.I will ride mostly trails and open fields and will drag race friends from time to time.My question is do you guys think I could handle a Ds 650?

you should like it , especialy the reliability. i welded extra foot pegs onto my existing pegs kicking them upwards. useing them for leverage , helps push it around the tight stuff.

I'm most interested in the engine performance. How is the torque and acceleration?

there are many fast DS's out there. Moderately built DS's with stock bores, porting, cam, bigger carb pull big torque #'s and are a handfull to ride. Take some getting used to, but well worth it. If your lookin to drag thats the quad for you....only downfall parts are pricey!

My best friend just made the switch from a pretty modded raptor 660 to a stock ds 650 with a pipe. You can really tell a difference the DS handles better has more power and is 10x more durable. His raptor or craptor as we like to call it had 11:1 cr +1mm bore wiseco piston a stage 1 cam a full exhaust, aluminum intake box no lid and K&N, his suspension was +2.5 houser arms and a durable axle. The DS 650 is a 06' baja x. He likes and i like the DS way way better. Its a great bike and you are a big guy and only gonna get bigger go for the DS and you will love it. He is 6'4" 280lb by the way for comparison.

here is a pic of me ripping it up on his DS, its awesome
