alright i got the msr clutch perch from rockymountainatv and i was putting it on today and i took my old lever off...whatis the wires that run from the switch where ur lights and stuff are and start button to the lil plate on the stock lever??? I put on the msr lever but i taped that lil black piece that the wires went to onto my handlebars and it looks like crap...what is the purpose of it?

those wires prevent the bike from starting in gear unless the clutch lever is pulled in...your best bet would be to cut them and splice them together. but be aware that it will start in gear without the lever being pulled

if you leave it like it is, it will not start in gear because the switch has nothing to actuate it

if you don't wire them together i think it will be just how it was wile they were in the plate, the quad just won't ever start in gear...but if you splice them together then you can start it in any gear with or without the clutch...also the wires can be tucked away for a nice clean look

if you don't wire them together it will only start in nuetral, which would be a pain if you kill it on a hill or some other sticky situation where it would be better to be able to squeeze the lever , hit the start button, and go again. my .02

so if i cut them and wire them together....will it start without pulling in the clutch? that is wat i dont want it to do...I want it to only start when pulling in the clutch. and in neutral. I do Not want it to start while in any gear without pulling the clutch

If you want it to only start while pulling in the clutch, you'll have to keep the stock lever/perch, as it has the switch. You can use the msr lever and leave the wires unconnected, and have it only start in neutral tho.

I use to have the MSR clutch perch and the adjustment knob got all cross-threaded and eventually broke so just be warned. It's a great lever for the money but I wasnt quite happy with it in the long run so now I run a SRP.

if you do not want to cut it you can put a fuse in the clips. that is what I did. Then cover it with something to protect the wires. I run the ASV pro perch and love it. I haven't really looked into this one. hot start is for the 450's with the button to let the valve's stay open as a compression release for starting. Steve
