Has anyone ever done it themselves? It doesn't seem like it would be too hard, maybe time consuming. Would it be worth it??

Don't even think about it. For someone who hasn't ported a head before you have little to gain and everything to lose. Do you have a stock piston? If so, the porting is going to yield minimal gains. Try adding a carburetor, high compression piston, cam then porting.

No porting...just polishing right?

You can polish the exhaust ports yourself. Do not Polish the INTAKE runners.:D
