got this email today and was just curious what everyone else thinks about it:

How many zeros in a billion?

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of its releases.

A..
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B..
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C..
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D..
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
< I>let's take a look at New Orleans ...
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D)
is presently asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
what does it mean?

A...
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child)
you each get $516,528.

B.
Or.... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C..
Or.... if you are a family of four...
your family gets $2,066,012.

Washington , D. C

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago..
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world...
and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened?
Can you spell 'politicians!'

And I still have to
press '1'
for English.

sent email to you ^^^

i think my favorite part was where it talks about 100 years ago our country didnt have any of these taxes and was the most prosperous and highest middle class, etc.

also makes me think about whether or not our country needs a new Constitution, it even says in it the people have the right to change it, now before anyone here starts to call me a tyrant or anything remember this:

Our fore fathers who drafted the constitution never meant for it to last as long as it has

so I ask, is it time "WE the people" step up and take back our nation?

Who does China borrow money from? At least from a cash flow perspective, China is ahead of the US already. We are considered to be the richest in assets...which we have leveraged to the hilt right now. China owns quite a bit of the US if you want to look at it that way.

technology has advanced, yes. However the state of the economy was higher, as was the value of the dollar. The point about 100 years ago is where did we go wrong? How did we let ourselves, the most dominate country in the world, set itself up for the crisis we are in now?

Now i understand the importance of certain taxes, but there is no reason my retired grandparents have to pay a recreational vehicle tax on the RV they bought for x amount of dollars, which that money went right back into the economy paying wages for workers, sales tax going back into the state, and producers for the materials used.

Our government is too damn greedy, its time for us the people to change it,
