bye bye ATV---Mustang??

Well today I was SUPPOSED to be going pick up an old 350x to get back into riding slowly. I get out of work yesterday to find out my car was stolen. So I guess I will need a loan for a car instead of a bike now. I found a 1994 mustang GT (5.0) for $1,500. BUT it has about 225,000 miles on it. The body is not bad except the paint faded in a few spots. Any input on these cars?

They're great cars. 5.0's are the chit. I like them much better than the 4.6's. 5.0's are a little bit more reliable and easier to work on IMO. They have a little bit longer life than the 4.6's also, i know a few guys running around here that have around 300,000 on there 5.0's. Sounds like an alright car but be careful and look everything over real well before you buy it.

but 94-96 mustangs are slower than dog ****.

dont get me wrong, a 5.0 can haul some ***. but stock yes they are very very slow 1/4 times should be in the high 14's or low 15's probably

the '95 model cars were the last year with the 5.0L engine. In '96, they went to the modular 4.6.

The 5.0 is a lot easier to work on IMHO, and alot cheaper to work on. Id go check the car out, drive it, and get a feel for it.

For 1500, it sounds like a decent deal.

And if it has a 5-speed, deffinately get it. The AODE wasn't a great tranny as far as performance goes, but the 5-speed was a little better. If you start building much power with it, the stock 5-speed will spit itself out.

Tremec makes a much stronger T-5 and my personal favorite, the T-56 (6-speed):cool:

to answer the original question, yes i would buy it for $1500 barring any big damage that wasn't mentioned.

Its its a 5 speed deff get it. I would..

5.0s are very reliable but not all that quick in stock form.

whoa looked up the specs are you kidding me? 240HP? you need a 5L V8 to get 240HP? what did they do run like a 6:1 compression piston? make the ports like a drinking straw? i really want to know how they can suck that bad at making an engine. reliable it may be but for the size and everything thats pathetic

open her up and you can double that without breaking a sweat.

Ford has always been behind in power. They always had to go to forced induction to make good numbers.. Back then those cars could haul *** pretty good compared to what was on the road.. Stock vs Stock put a 89 mustang up against a newer lexus and the lexus will hand it's *** to it.. You can get mazda mini van to be able to beat it.. But back then the only real competition you had was the camaro, the corvette was in a different catagory...

I would take it for that price thou.. Try and find a 04-04 cobra.. Now that is a sweet ride...

well change of plans... my car was recovred yeterday... with -- blown head gasket, my wholleeee system is gone(including extras I had in there for a buddy), my girlfriends social security card and her license (thank god she had no money :rolleyes: ). So yeah, just my luck...good news is the guy was arrested.

and when I went to test the mustang, it ran good and stuff, but when it would idol it would shake really hard. he was told a sensor, but who knows.

Those cars had a problem with the EFI system.

Drill a 1/8" hole in the butterfly of the throttle body, and that problem evens out.

There is a small valve to the left of the butterflies, that, whem idling, is supposed to supply just enough air to keep it running smooth. It doesnt take much for it to get stopped up, and it starts acting up.

My dads buddy has a '95, so ive been around almost every problem that the cars had.
