i would only get a 14 if i had 22 inch tires. when i get my 18's i want to run 16 or 15 : 36. when i switched from my 16 to a 15 i only noticed a little bit more low end but it seems a lot slower.

depends on what mods you have and what type of riding you do.
woods slightly modded bike is excellent.

Ive tried the 14 and thought it was too low. Sure it makes more torgue and revs through the gears fast but seems like theres not as much over all pull through the gears since it's revs out so quick. And less top speed of course

i have all 3 sprockets, i run the 16 even in sandpits. get one, or stick with the 15. the 14 is only good for trail riding .

What type of riding will you be doing? Why do you want to change your gearing? Going to a 14 front tooth on your 400 will allow you to rev quick, especially with stock tires.

I recommend getting the Renthal sprockets.

Good luck!:)

its good for tight trails

i have 22's rears so its nice

but i went back to my 15 because i have the power to pull a higher gear now. before i was shifting between 2nd ,3rd and 4th, with stock gearing its just 2nd and 3rd because each gear pulls more. with a stock motor a 14 would def help in tight trails

personally I think on my stock 400 that the 14 tooth helped alot since i had 22in tires..it helped a bunch on hill climbing..far as speed goes i don't think it was that bad..i mean i ran 65mph with 20in tire and 14tooth so with 22in i'm sure it is a few more on top than that....I can say my friend has the same setup as you and he runs 22in tires with stock gearing and i think it pulls great with it..has lots of lowend...i don't think you would have to go with the 14tooth but thats just my choice..if you feel you need more low end go with the 14tooth..it will show improvement..later madmike

First you say the 14tooth helped a lot, then you say you don't think he really needs it. So which is it.

Oh, and by the way you can get one for like $5, so why not just try it and see how you like it.

Yes i was just saying how it helped me out in my situation but in his i don't see how it would be needed cause he has a pipe and still has stock tires....that already adds to acceleration....but yes if he feels the need for more lowend go ahead and get 14tooth...listen don't take this wrong way but i don't come on here to give other people a hard time like you just gave me about my statement..i come on here to give people an answer if i know i can be of some assistance..so take that into consideration and everybody have a good day..later madmike

P.S. Doibugu2 is right though..they don't cost much so it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot to see if you like the 14tooth or not.

It cannot hurt you to get it. I have all three , 14,15,and 16. If you ride as much as I do in as many different types of terrain and situations, it cannot hurt you. Like someone said earlier it's only about 5 or 10 bucks so get it and try it out. I love mine for supercross style tracks and tight trails & MX tracks. Try it out. Experimenting with gearing can only help, never hurt.
