I have a 250X , and I want a 250R , I am wondering if any one has pics of 250r"S set up for snow , and MX , I was wondering if I should keep the 250X for the snow or would a 250R be more fun?

heresa deal I can do

I bought my decnt 1992 250X for $600

I am putting $500 into it for plastics seat cover, swingarm , carrier brakes and asthetics

= $1100

Trade that for a 1994 ( really a 1997 ) KX250 , the KX250 has a new rebuilt kawaskai engine , with pro x piston , boyseen reeds, fmf fatty pipe and silencer, excel wheels , new MT16 tires, renthasl , new seat cover and graphics N style new grren plastics , new black , tank liek completely mint KX250

sell kX250 for about 2600 ( prob on ebay becauseit is mint)

with 2600 dollars buy a raced out 250R

then by ice tires ( or a good snow tre for real good hook up)

does this sound good?

It sound spretty sweet

for 2600$ you could buy a trashed R and still owe money on it.

I agree, 2600 won't buy that nice of an R.

It would be hard to find an r for 2600, even hammered

I bought mine for $2900 almost 2 years ago and it was pretty hammered (although the important stuff like frame and motor was fine). It's amazing what the price of R's has done. I think I'm gonna hold onto mine simply for investment purposes!

X's are a lot of fun.

R's...In my oppinion....I would buy one if I was all into racing...but I doubt I'll buy one if all im doing is riding some trails, etc.

You can make X's pretty nice bikes for some money...

When the auction is over you'll know how much it is going for. lol.
Stuff like that off ebay always makes me nervous unless you can go and physically check out the quad in person. For all we know it could have a frame that looks like Humpty Dumpty and a motor full of metal shavings. "Ported by Joe Schmoe local MX shop". lol. Maybe it's a great deal, but maybe it's a P.O.S?

If you don't have the dough for an R, an LT250R really isn't a bad 2 stroke 250 for the money even though Suzuki doesn't have the reputation that honda does. You can find them for $2000 in decent condition if you shop around.

sometimes i think about lookin for an r instead of buying a 400ex, but then i think, im poor, i need something reliable. Im only gettin a 400ex so i can do some good in the xc racing. If i got a 250r i would prolly find some nice suprises i didnt find before i bought it, then i would be royally ****ed. ... And i am used to 4-strokes, so it wouldnt be too much too get used to the 400, and i have my brothers to compare the feel of his 03 to the 99-2001 i will prolly get, not too mention that i already have the sevice manual for it.

Yeah the reliability card always comes into play, but honestly I'll take a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke anyday. They are WAY more simple and it's easy to diagnose a 2 stroke as opposed to an electric start, overhead cam 4 stroke that has hidden valvetrain and wiring. But if you XC race you might wanna have the extra 4 stroke bottom end and ability to lug it.

i own a 1988 250x , ported/polished, bigger valves, three angle valve job, bored .80, inch and a half header made by me, dg slip on pipe, 11.1 compression, jetted 400ex carb, kn airfilter with no airbox lid, wb cam, run 104 high octane. This bike outruns a 400ex with no problem and will hang easily with a 250r . Before all the mods tho the 250x was a great bike and u put a pipe and jett it up will run very nicely. the 250r's are nice but id rather pay $2000 for an x than $5000 for and r .

AndrewRRR

Yeah, but that sounds like about $2000 in mods! A 250x is a good bike, but stock they are somewhere around 13hp. Just depends on what you want to do I guess. I'd just start out with a faster bike and go from there, especially seeing how easy it is to modify 2 strokes. If you shop around you can still find 250r's in the mid-upper $3000 range.

But don't forget, aren't you supposed to rebuild 2 strokes every year?

It mostly depends on what your going to be doing, and your money limit.

that 250r on ebay only sold for 2850 and it met reserve???:huh

Ok OK you guys got me hooked on keeping my 250X, well right about now I have about 950 to spend on it ! I already purchased a new stocker swingarm and a lonestar racing carrier! the future ideas I was having is

- 5 inch wheel spacer front and back
- FmF Mega Max II with header
- ITP 8 inch rims with 19'' tires ( probably hole shot or razor)
- new silver Maier Plastics with Nacs racing graphics
- removing stock light and puttin on a hood scoop ( I wanna see if I can put a light in there)
- A cam
- A 310cc kit
- EBC HD clutch kit
- 250R shocks
- raptor rear shock
- pro tapers ( or any other style bar)
- and a nice honda black wioth a lil red on it seat cover!

Does it sound mint?

I might not get teh 310cc kit and maybe just get a high comp piston or a 288 kit,

and I have a question, do u think that SRC racing ( the company thast makes performance parts for XR's) there XR250 kit would fit the TRX250X, I am pretty sure its the same cylinder?

thanks

:p

O yea thats my 2001 XR400 pretty trick EH!
