So i bought this pc2000 265 cylinder from a guy that had a broken skirt. I called up duncan the other day and they said it was not meant to be resleeved. Solid aluminum cast. So he said he would bore it out, press a blank 300cc steel sleeve in it and cut all the ports out match a piston and get me a new head and dome all for around 500-700 dollars depending on how much machining is gonna be required. Does this sound like a good deal or should i get me a new esr 310 kit instead. Will this set up make anymore power than the 265 it originally was? I would really like a powervalve but will it be cobbled together?

So my question is, get a new 310? or fix my pc 2000 pv cylinder?

what he's wanting to charge is CRAZY to say the least but most of that is the labor of re establishing the ports in the cast sleeve. provided that the port arrangement is that of a OEM cylinder, i'd order a virgin (unbored) big bore LA sleeve for it and have it installed. this will put you back to a 66mm but give you between 18-24 bores. hope this helps.

comparing a 265 to a 310 is apples to oranges. 265's are weak in comparison. 5-700 really isn't that bad when you consider the amount of work required and you're getting a new head. and since duncan is doing it, i wouldn't exactly say it gonna be cobbled together...

decision is pretty easy, do you want a powervalved cylinder or not?

i would go with the 310, if you really want a power valve check out esr's pro x power valve 330 350 and 370 kits.
