I'm looking at a set of used works triple rate shocks that are 16 1/4" eye to eye and i know that the stock 450r shocks are 16 1/2" eye to eye. Would those works shocks work being a 1/4" shorter and would it cause any problems for just trail riding and the occasional playing on a mx track. I really just want a fairly cheap way of making my front suspension better without having to spend 500 or 600 at least on new shocks. Let me know your thoughts on that setup and any recommendations or if you have any standard travel front shocks that you are looking to get rid of for a cheap price.

You are mostly likely better off getting your stock shocks revalved/sprung for your weight.
Might even be cheaper.

But to answer your question, yeah they will bolt up and work. But if they are not valved for the same type of a-arm, rider weight, style etc they won't perform as good as they could.
