View Full Version : Bad Christmas Ride

Well, my Christmas was great until I decided to head out and hit the streets on my trike in the snowstorm. The ride was a blast until I was met by two police officers who promptly arrested me for Operating a Recreational Vehicle on a public way, failure to stop, and driving to endanger  . I thought they would be more understanding being christmas and nobody on the road.

:grr

I am guilty of all the above, but the driving to endanger is a bit much considering there was nobody out on the roads, at 10:00pm except for the plows. My court date is Jan 21...YUCK

Bummer sorry to hear this but you know the old saying

If you want to play be prepared to pay!

It takes a real man to sand up and admit you were wrong. I restpect that. Your right though. The endangering part does seem a little strange.

ill quote my dad on this. we have the same problem in wisconsin. theres no money in 4wheelin. if we let snowmobiles ride, they spend money to stay at hotels and food and registration because they come from other states to ride on all the farm land. if their happy, they'll bring 10 friends next year, so 10 times as much money. 4wheelers on the other hand just 'rip up the land and theres no money going towards them' hes right but police are just being greedy. well not just police but the whole town.

I hear ya. My friend almost got busted for riding on the roads when there was like 6 inches of snow on the roads yet as he was stopped 10 snowmobiles flew down the road doing like 70 and the cop never even toke the time to even look. I feel sorry for you having to pay that impoundment fee, thats horrible. They changed the impoundment fee over by me from $50 to $1500 becuase of all the idiot riders around here.

By the way, in the long run Snowmobiles tear up much more then Quads. Have you even been on a real bumpy in the summer after a couple years of snowmobiling has been on there. I used to ride on this one trail that was all smooth untill ten years of snowmobiling on it and now it looks like 10,000 goffers just tore it up.

Sorry for making to posts

That Sux... But What Can You Do, If I Were You, When You Go To Court Hopefully The Judge Will Be Leanient With You, Something To Try Would Be Talking To The Prosecuting (sp?) Attorney & Tell Him/Her That You Are Willing To Plead Guilty To The Other Two Offenses But Would Like The Endangering Charge Dropped... You Would Be Surprised What Can Happen Just By Asking & It Doesn't Hurt To Try.

... are you serious! I guess not, but when was the last time you asked the government to do something for your?

Remember their saying, its not what your government can do for you, but what you can do for the government, and trust me they live up to that saying.

Thanks for the replys, I am going to speak with the DA and should be able to get the driving to endanger dropped.

Good one Rico, actually as I was sittin in the cell my stomach began to rumble from the big christmas meal I ate earlier. By the looks of the toilet in the cell, :huh I had two options
1) drop a gift for the cops on the floor or....
2) wait till I could bail myself out.

I decided by better judgement to choose option 2. Sometimes you need to swallow your pride a bit

spliffy is not crazy. I had a reckless operation ticket reduced to failure to control when I got busted riding a wheelie on my streetbike. The fine was the same, but I only got 2 points instead of 6! I did have a clean record, otherwise I would not have gotten the deal. A friend of mine got a speeding ticket reduced to a burned out headlight. Again, same fine, but better looking for the driving record. Also, he had a clean record to start with. The key to getting any ticket reduced is to have a clean record to begin with and then talking with the prosecutor and working out the deal before you see the judge. All the judge does is follow the advice of the prosecutor and accept your plea (not guilty, no contest, or guilty).

did you know these police officers?

if not.........why didn't you follow the first rule your mom taught you?

never talk to strangers! :o

good luck in court. talking to the states attorney should get some of the charges dropped, and or suspended.

I know most of the cops in town, however this guy is a new officer. I am thinking of going down to the station and dealing with a few of the guys I know and see if they will help me out at all.

If it was any of the guys I know they would not even bother chasing me anyhow

whoa, i run from the cops all the time if the trails are near but if they got me on the road i stop, admit im wrong and tell them ill go home and i was just taking my quad for a test drive because i bought it the day before and it always gets me out when the new cop gets me, the other cops just wave

and for the snowmobiles, i was out riding today and the snowmobilers were everywhere! on main roads, the tracks, neiborhoods just.... everywhere, the cops decided to chase me and my 3 freinds who had sleds so we stopped cuz we were ont he street, he gave me the lecture and told my freind they can go! they ddint leave they told the cop that they should take in all the snowmobilers too and there were about 10 around us so he let me and my freinds go... its total horsecrap, they even have a "hilton snowgoers" club on the trails im not allowed to ride on, i think im gunna buy a thundercat 1000 or a firecat f7 , put some pipes on with no silencers and rip everything up then sell it just because of my jealusy

ever see a police cruiser try to catch a snowmobile thats capable of speeds in excess of 125 mph with a foot of snow on the road?

not much use in even throwing the lights on. :o

geez, that sucks, just be happy it wasnt for riding on your trails, i had been riding the same trails behind my house for 3 years. This fall i got a big ol ticket from the gay conservation fairys. It was because of my neighbors, which i guess like to see the bird fly when i see there faces. $425 for the ticket, could have beem 2 years probation and 25 hours community service, but we had an attorney so it was just payin the money and 6 months probation. But it is still he//a gay.

dude that sucks some cops do have no heart lol its christmas! leave you alone lol i was out on christmas with my dad and i saw a cop i said if i was a cop i would find a back dark cornor of a parking lot and just sit there and play on the cruser computer lol. I dont have the heart to give a ticket on the holidays. I then talked to my cousin about it he said that on the holidays you either get the really nice cops that wont give two craps about what you do or the kind that is gonna bust you for the smallest thing unfortunitly you ran into those kind sucks to be you but i hope the court date goes good, God luck.

i hate to hear stuff like this, some cops are just outta control. today i got pulled over cause i took my VAN in a no truck zone, i new i was under 8000lbs so it was ok but i couldn't find my registration to prove my van was under the truck weight limit, but whatever the cop was cool and he let me go with a warning, today was the first time i had a decent encounter with an officer of the law :devil , i can't believe they busted you on christmas, thats plain crazy...good luck though. maybe it won't be so bad

Well...just got an interesting piece of mail today from the local police department. I was hoping it was a late Christmas card, but I was not so lucky. Now they are suspending my License to Carry a Firearm and I need to turn in all my guns :grr :grr :grr

Now what happend to me made me upset, but this has officially PISSED ME OFF! Looks like I will have to get a Lawyer for this one, as I am not losing my right to bear arms over riding my trike on a snowy road :grr
