Hey guys, anyone know where you can buy an airbox to carb tube that fits the bigger carbs like a 38 or 39mm?

if you soak the stock air boot in really hot water it will stretch to fit a 38mm thats how i fit mine on

I put a stocker over a 40.5mm ESR carb

start with a newer boot, one that is still pretty soft and not all weather checked and cracked.

soak it in boiling hot water for a few minutes, then stretch it over of the carb and clamp it right away. let it sit over night and your ready to go.

Yeah, I saw that it wasn't gonna take much to fit it onto my 38mm A/S. I was really wanting to get the 86 style without the hole on the side. I was just gonna go ahead and get one for a bigger carb while I was replacing it but I couldn't find them anywhere.

I posted this on another site years ago, a easy trick I found to fit a 38 or 39mm carb on a stock boot. Heat the boot up in boiling water or a heat gun(in low temperature), heat up everything around the end. Then get a 16oz bottle of beer from the garbage, it is a tad bit bigger then the bell end of a 39mm carb. Work that on, then stick the boot w/beer bottle in the freezer. It will hold the shape and go on easy almost every time after. A new boot helps alot with the process.

There was a seller on E-bay that was selling a "high flow" air boot. I believe it was for a 38 or 39mm carb and it doesnt have the resanator in the side. I personelly boiled my stock one and slid it on, but there are other options out there.

I've seen those on ebay before. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that just a LT500 boot. It sure is close if it isn't. He wants 70 for his so called High flow boot but you can get a LT500 boot for around 30 on ebay.

Will the LT500 boot work with a stock airbox? In the stock location? It amazes me that with all the aftermarket 250R parts that were made at the height of it's popularity, nobody made a boot to accomodate a bigger carb.

I agree with you 100 percent Rich250RRacer. There had to be a huge demand for them when the 250r was dominate in the race world. After taking a closer look at the High flow system the guy on ebay sells, there looks to be some sort of adapter where the LT500 boot hooks onto the airbox.

But it wouldnt work with my spacer plated motor. It ended up shooting the boot right into a frame tube. Would work well with a stock motor though.
The LT boot is 4.5" and the TRX is 4" by the way thats why the one on Ebay has a machined adapter ring.

good info pdxbigfoot. The answer to the whole LT500 boot question is starting to come together. Looks like a good fit.

No its not it doesn't match up worth a crap do not buy a quadzilla boot to mate up a larger carb I lost $70 buck to find out a zilla boot and an aluminum adapter is an expensive paper weight unless you don't care how jerry rigged it looks! If you want to buy one pm me my paper weights are piling up!

Does anyone know the size of the carb and airbox hole on a zilla intake boot?

The LT500 boot fits 38mm and larger carbs without a struggle. As stated do not expect it to work with a stock link or CR500 link frame. It fits like crap on those setups if you want to use the OEM airbox, LT500 boots are for no link setups only or custom airbox eliminator setups.

I have a cr500 motor in a trx250r frame with a 44mm carb with a 2.75 inch bell to the boot (hopefully pushing 90hp). My cylinder size and motor mounts puts my carb in a different place than a regular 250r which makes the shock clearance less of a problem. I will be making a custom airbox and need to know the measurements for a quadzilla boot, both the carb and airbox I.D. sizes

Just to add to this discussion, ESR makes an adaptor ring, which you get when you buy carbs from them that adapts the stock boot to the larger bore carbs... I assume you can buy just the ring, IDK though.

4-1/4" on the airbox side, and 2-1/2" on the carb side. I need to keep mine for at least a few more weeks to see if I need it for my next build.

The lt500 boots were usually used on no link set ups to go around the larger diameter shock and I always ran a protect airbox, where the filter set at an angle,It is designed just for that set up.Eddie Sanders used to make a flange that he mounted on your big carb to reduce it down to stock intake diameter. If your just run an air stryker you just cus it on and after it's been on a liitle bit it holds its shape.
