air box sensor

im just wondering if you need to have this sensor ? for most of the intakes it goes into the intake boot, but on the fuelatv intake the just have it in the box.. im just wondering cause the exhaust melted all the plastic off the wires, and i need to re wire it, but if i dont even need it in the first place, then ill take it off completely.

Yes you need it. It's the Inlet Air Temp Sensor and it needs to be somewhere in the intake tract.
