View Full Version : 01 400ex wont idle

Hi i am new to the 400ex world and i just bought a 2001 but i am haveing a problem with it idleing. The guy i bought it from said it has sat from october to febuary withouth being started,so i got it home drained the gas out and put in new and changed the oil and filter. It runs perfect doesnt smoke or anything but the problem is it will only idle when the choke is on. I rode it for like 2 hours and got it warm and it still would only idle with the choke on. Does anyone have and idea what it could be? I would greatly appreciate the help.

take the jets out and spray them good with carb cleaner. and spray around the jets too .

i spoke to a dealer and they mentioned something about a pilot jet do you know anything about that?

yea its allows a certain amount of fuel to run at idle. it might be just clogged. try cleaning it and see what happens. if this doesnt work try unscrewing it a little to allow more fuel. but after(im pretty) sure 2 and a half turns you need to go up a size in the pilot.
