Depending on how big it is, It might be a old Ice Saw.

It is about 36" long. The only part of the blade that is sharp is the parts of the metal that are "vertical" in the picture.

exaclty my problem too..

i've seen amish ppl in the community by where i live take one of those out and use it from time to time..
