Well, I thought I'd share it here first...

I couldn't trade my 400EX... not that I couldn't get a good trade-in value on it... I just couldn't bring myself to do it for some reason. Not sure why exactly.

I thought I had 'buyers reluctance' there for a while, but I finally realized I was just very confused about what to get and very uneasy about trading EX off for it's immediate replacement.

So I decided to just keep it.

I did go buy myself a brand-hammer new KFX450R though.

I'll let you all know after I get some ride time.

I haven't even unloaded it yet.
It's been raining and about 1 degree above freezing.

probably both. 450s can be kind of high strung for the woods. I dont care for the power of the kfx much though but you bought what you liked and its a nice bike for sure.

keeping the ex...if the kfx is anything like the honda 450r ...i don't think you'll be happy on it...at least from the style of riding you described

it seems alot differnt then the 450r to me. seems as though its snappier in the mid power area.

I've been on an '05 450R and the KFX450R is a lot different than it. It doesn't have as much bottom as the KFX450R, not even with mods and a 13t.

Overall, stock, I see the 450's like this...

KTM/Outlaw 450... stroker, strong low end and all.

KFX450R... low-midrange.

Rest of 450's... mid-topend.

I hear ya on keeping the 400. I don't care how many times it needs rebuilding or what goes wrong in the future. It will always have a place in the garage. One day I want to have a 250r, 400ex, 250x, 450r. most of the group. maybe even a 300ex and a 250ex if I have teh funds. I want to restore the 250r to completely stock and have a stock old body style 400ex also with the one I have. Ah dreams are awesome aren't they.:p One day!! It would be awesome to have the whole collection. Good decision on the new machine I hope you like it. They are all really nice. Steve
