05 trx450R valves and compression

o.k. , my dad bought a used `05trx450R. the valves tick a bit , and it feels like it should have more compression when you kick it.

I`m thinking we go with a 13:1 compression or higher piston.
And we need a valvejob. which shims do I buy from who? How often do you have to replace the buckets? Are the valvesprings a factor?

How much maintenance have others done and in what timeframe?

put an exhaust on it so you dont hear the valves the hondas make a bit of noise all the time so just cover i up with a nice sounding noise
