The top 4 main bolts you should coat with oil then torque in a criss cross pattern.
Initial torque: 18.0 lb-ft
Final: 33.5 lb-ft

After tightening the head bolts, move down to the smaller bolts and nuts if you removed cylinder and torque those to 7.0 lb-ft.

This is right out of the manual

Your gonna wanna tighten more than what the book states if your using the original hardware. I did mine right around 40 ft lbs.

Sorry for the delay:
The manual basically tells you how to check connecting rod deflection
1). Measure piston end of conrod deflection. spec is 3.0mm or .12"
2) measure big end side clearance(crank end) push conrod all the way to one side then place a thickness gauge in the other side to measure clearance. spec. is 1.0mm or 0.04"
3) run out, of course you have to have the crank out for that but run out is 0.08mm or 0.003"

Typically if you grab the conrod and pull it up and down there should be no play

After reading that @ Thumptalk , it does make sense. I remember I had a hell of a time getting my head bolts out. Im gonna be tossing a BBK in my bike in a month or so. Thats some nice info to have. 44 ftlbs. it is!

Any other torque values wrong in the manual? I've done mine by the book a couple times now and have not had an issue but I will admit I usually give it more then 33 cause my torque wrench is old and it just don't feel right. It's same old argument how tight for spark plug how tght for oil filter old timers always say "give it a quarter turn and then some". Ha Ha.
