i dread this thread every year......sittin there watching the oilers try to fight their way in, losing faith every game.

as far as champion goes, i would love to say san jose they have always been me second team ever since coming into the nhl, but history goes to show much like detroit they cant seem to keep it together in the post season.

my call for this year is boston, they are in my eyes by far the strongest team in the league, the fans are hungry, the team is hungry, and i cant see with 2 good goalies, and a solid team that they will fall off in the play offs....

but untill all is said and done.......LETS GO OILERS.

and yes i'll say it if they make it in we will see another oilers run for the cup, you can never count them out

As long as we keep St Louis, Lecavalier and Stamkos i'm happy. Its funny Bucs won superbowl then were terrible. Shouldn't you be out surfing or something? LOL . I didn't think anyone out in Cali really watched hockey ... I always thought they imported their fans to make it look like there was people interested.

I still have my dollars and cents on Boston ... but I sure hope Montreal gives them a bit of a fight. Chara will be a sore man by the end of this series.

I also hope that Chicago does well. Young team with lots of talent and half a roster that has never seen a playoff game before.

I like the canucks and bruins in the final. Possibly sharks and pens. Wings dont have the defense nor goaltending to get there in the playoffs wihtout having the #1 seed it will be a long rough road. I say defense because with shots be up from last year as well as time of possesion being down it all cant be the goalies fault. Luongo has looked amazing and played really well last nite against st louis who really showed up to play last nite. Caps dont have a goalie to make it you cant rely on a teams to have to score 4+ goals a game to win in the playoffs. Bruins look great from every angle and sharks need to find the mojo they had from november-january. Pens have just been so hot lately and they have had the talent all year just didnt have the heart or motivation.

The Boston/Montreal game was a good one tonight. Saturday is gunna be intense. I would love to see Thornton drop the mitts with Laraque ... but for sure the start of the next game will be rough with all that happened at the end of tonights game.

Actually ... whoever told you that is pretty much right. Montreal is insane ... and LOVE their hockey. They party hard after their team loses ...... after a playoff win .... ridiculous.

Watching the Habs vs Bruins lastnight on TV , the camera zoomed in on 4 Habs fans in their Montreal jerseys after a goal .... looks like some Bruins fans were ready to jump them. A few people were holding 1 guy back. LOL

If anyone , it'll be Thornton .... the Bruins can't afford to lose Lucic.... he's a tough guy but not in the same league as Laraque plus the coach doesn't want him to break a hand and be out , he's a top line player.

Thornton wants Laraque , especially after George going into the media and saying that Thornton wouldn't fight him cuz he's not a heavy weight and in the same league as him and scared of him. A lot of playoff talk ... but Thornton has taken this seriously. Thornton is usually pretty open to the media and easy going , but after the comments he's kept quiet and has had a pissed off look on his face.

I would love to see him drop Laraque ... but that would be something for the record books.

Good video ... you guys have some pretty loud fans. I'll be curious to see who has the loudest arena during this playoff run. Chicago had a pretty loud arena the other night .

But nothing will ever compare to my team's arena and fans from the '06 playoffs. The Oilers had the loudest fans ever .... to the point where studies were conducted saying that some of the fans may have suffered permanent hearing loss because of the noise in the building that year. :p It's too bad they didn't make the playoffs this year though. :(

with all due respect to Boston who ran Montreal through the ringer, Tim Thomas was NEVER tested in this series. He let in a lot of soft goals, and when they go up against a team who is firing on all cylinders offensively, the big bad Bruins wont have a chance unless Thomas starts to play like he did at times during the season...

i am going to keep my money on Boston, they have heart this year, and knock thomas all you want but the fact is any goalie that has a slow game in net will let in weak goals.....he has stood on his head all year and i dont think he's done yet. put to the test they are still a strong team, i wont count out the wings but dont count out boston either.

and if we want to get right into it, this year you cant count anyone out, hell for the last 2 months the worst teams in the league were have 3 and 4 game streaks of beating the best....its anybodies game but i will say i think boston will take it this year
and even though i pick boston to win, i'm routing for the sharks. just dont know if they can pull it off

Can someone explain the ruling on the hooking/shouldabeenanemptynetter towards the end of the game? I'm not a die hard fan and am unfamiliar with that.

If the ref would have called a penilty on that play, he would have been awarded a penilty shot, if Osgood was in the net, but since he was on the bench, they would have just awarded the Pens with the goal. If that makes any sense. lol

i'll discuss it. the pens controlled the game and their goalie came to play. they controlled the game the whole series. it was fluery that lost games one and two for the pens. detroit did not beat them,in those games, fluery did.

Little over confident there? You talk like detroit is a scum team. You can say that the goalie didnt show up to play to any loss a team has. I think both teams controlled the series equally and the pens just showed up to play game 7 is all.

Yes, both teams did play pretty dam equally. Neither team losing in game seven should hang their heads.

It is funny how people are quick to lay all blame on a goalie. Yes, in games one and two Fluery left a couple soft goals in. But how about the Pens defense, or lack of allowing the puck in front of their net to much? And Osgood certainly can't take the whole blame for the Wings losing last night. Except for the beginning of the first period, the Wings looked out of sync.

Like the great number 66 Mario Lemieux said- They win as a team, and lose as a team. ;)

llok at my posts on fluery on other boards, he is not the goalie he is made out to be...he lets in way too many soft goals and is too streaky...

as far as overconfidence...did you really watch the games. the pens played detroits game and beat them at it. they took a lesson from last year and used it to their advantage.

both teams played tremendous, and i never said otherwise, but the pens played their game for almost 60 minutes of every game except for game 5. if it had not been for a few lucky bounces in games 1 and 2 that got by fluery, this would have been a different series. It is over and the pens won. not to shabby for a team that almost didn't make the playoffs

Greta game lastnight ... and a nice desperation save by Fleury with about 2 seconds left.

The Penguins played the game that Detroit does not like ... the hitting game . Detroit has a ton of skilled players that can handle the puck , but as soon as they start getting hit , they play scared... and the Penguins used that to their advantage.

Lastnight they played as a team and won as a team and they deserved it.
