Best method for polishing a pipe/removing surface rust

Just wondering if anyone had any good tips and what products work best? I tried medium duty rubbing compond but that didn't work to well, it didn't even remove the carbon very well. Anyone know the best way?

i used a brillo pad on mine works great and it doest scratch the crome finish and it takes the rust off

Fine grit steel wool is the best thing I've found so far. Then go over it with a good chrome polish.

google search a product called WENOL. Its made in germany, but they have lots of distributers here in the states. they make both a chrome polish and a blue removal product as well.

I tried that blue removal stuff on my street bike to get the blue discoloration off from the heat but it seemed to dull my chrome. Did you have the same experiences or is it just me?

i found along thime ago the best and pretty much only thing that works is fine steel wool and some sort of chrome polish. i prefer mothers!

Since were on the subject of polishing. I recentlt purchased Mothers Billet polish. All I can say is WOW, this stuff works awesome! I've used Mothers aluminum polish in the past and didn't think there would be much difference.............Boy, was I wrong. This stuff is incredible but pricey at $15.00.

I agree. I usually go over it with the mother's aluminum first just because it is cheaper then I use the expensive stuff to bring the final shine out.

Have you tried Mother's Billet?

I cant see it gettin' any shinier!
