All day, everyday as long as you put the time in maintaining the quad.

really??? i found a 04 or 05 i cant remember but it was 2500$ i go back to work in a month so i think i might pick one up then. what about e start? how are the hrc kits?

The HRC kit gives it a nice h.p. gain and is cheap compared to other mods. Some people like the e start and some hate it. There have been no issues with mine so far.

I run xc with mine and that puts any quad to the test and my Honda has held up great. There is more maint. on the 450 but the advantages in power and handling make up for it ..... to me that is.....lol.:p

what all do you have to do in matanice? i know oil and stuff but what else?

warr72

Keep the oil changed very often and cleaning the air filter even more so is needed on the high strung 450. Then you gotta keep the valves adj. as it will start easier and run much better. But there is maint. on any quad, just a little more on the 450's.

yeah i would need to learn how to adj the valves

I race XC with mine too and ill tell ya we've had some muddy ones!! lol

Just keep her washed up, clean oil, clean air filter, and keep those valves in check and im sure you'll be plenty satisfied!

Invest in an outerwears for your filter if your gonna bog it. ;)

The valves are pretty easy if your mechanically inclined. j/k

That looks like a good deal. Look it over carefully before you buy.

what should i look for????

Cracks in frame, leaking fluids, slop in bearings, listen to the motor, see if it smokes, ride it and check for handling issues, performance of the motor when riding. Look in sight glass and look for milky oil. Flip it up on back tires and grab bar to check under side of frame, a-arms, swing arm. See if he has receipts for maint. done or if he has oil and such around to do his own maint. Look it over carefully.

I run an outerwears on my lid and have had no problems yet. No mud or water in box and does a good job so far.

Just curious to know... why its bad?

The trx450 will hold up through anything. My 04 honda pulls my 07 suzuki from top to bottom, love the power everywhere. A kickstart i think is your best option, less weight, you dont want to worry about wiring getting shorted or anything like that. Throw a pair of pantyhose around your aifilter works as a good prefilter notice alot less dirt collecting on my filter. Change oil and oil filter as much as possible, i try every two rides or races. Shell run forever and youll never have any problems

I dont know if i can believe that. Ive been around plenty of pro and amatuer bikes, riders, and there engine builders and a pre filter is a great thing for your bike. A simple thing like that couldnt rob pat browns motor maybe a little less airflow but thats why we have adjustments. This data is bogus and resources faulty. Im sure pat brown didnt look at his quad and state that was the problem, why would he run it if it gave him a problem? Thats why he has mechanics. I believe it was the yamaha ;)

There you have it. restricts power due to loss of air but since your more into the GNCC type of racing youll deal with alot more dirt mud etc. So a prefilter would be good. Im pretty sure outerwears has a prefilter that mounts into the top of your airbox lid seems like a good idea.

I just got one of these outerwears from EHS racing, the filter was 15 bucks and i had to cut the airbox lid & what not and it is deff one of the best mods on my bike! I ride xc and mx, it doesnt restrict ur bike that much, mines runnin great with the outerwear lid

Well power isn't everything in racing, but if my quad got a good drink of mud or water it would end my day early. Not to mention the parts I would have to procure and my time, which is in demand lately. So I may loose a little h.p. but with the mods on the ole battleaxe, I will run with anyone on the track. ;)
